FAQ

About Gremln

  • ▼ What is Gremln?
    • Gremln is a premiere social media marketing toolkit designed to help businesses take control of their social media messages and measure the impact those messages are having on potential customers. Gremln allows users to post messages to their major social networks and tracks the amount of social engagement these messages attract. Gremln users can create quick and easy charts, graphs, and reports to monitor their social progress while maintaining brand integrity across various digital channels. Simply put, Gremln is social media made easy.
  • ▼ Why did you change your name from Twaitter?
    • Twaitter, our first social media management tool, was aptly named, as its main function was to schedule tweets at various points in the future. As we began expanding our toolset, however, it became obvious that our new product went far beyond Twitter and message scheduling. We felt compelled to find a new name to fit the tool’s new functionality. We chose Gremln, which, in the words of Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, “…symbolizes what it does…disrupting business as usual.”

Setting Up My Account

  • ▼ How do I link my social network accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) to Gremln?
    • Select User Accounts from the Tools drop down menu. To add a specific social networking account, choose the name of that network from the tabs at the top of the page. Click the social network icon at the bottom of the page and grant the network access in the pop-up window that appears. Once you have granted access, your social network account will link to your Gremln account.
  • ▼ What are pages and panels?
    • Pages are individual tabs you can create to keep your individual social networks separate and distinct. (We recommend creating one page for each social network account, but of course that’s up to you!) Your pages will be distinguishable by the tabs at the top of the dashboard.
Within each page, you can create panels. Each panel contains one specific view of one specific social network, such as Twitter Mentions or My Tweets. You can create panels that show your Twitter direct messages, your Facebook news feed, your own personal Facebook posts, and more!
  • ▼ How many pages can I add to my Gremln dashboard?
    • Gremln currently allows for a total of 10 pages, or tabes, in each user’s dashboard.
  • ▼ How many panels can I put in each page in my Gremln dashboard?
    • Gremln currently allows for a total of 20 panels per page in each user’s dashboard.

Link Shortening

  • ▼ What is Brev.is?
    • Brev.is is Gremln’s own link shortening program. It shortens Internet URLs to make them more manageable (especially for Twitter messages, which are limited to 140 characters). Brev.is also makes your shortened links trackable. In other words, you will be able to see how many people click on each shortened link by choosing Brev.is Links from the Tools menu.
  • ▼ I currently use bit.ly to shorten and track my links. Can I integrate my bit.ly account into Gremln?
    • Yes, you can! First, you’ll need your bit.ly username and API key. You can find both by logging into your bit.ly account. Your username is located in the top right corner of the page. To find your bit.ly API key, click your username and select Settings from the drop down menu. Scroll down the page until you see a section titled API Key. The long string of letters and numbers is your bit.ly API key.
Once you know your bit.ly username and API key, go to Gremln and select User Accounts from the Tools menu. Select Bit.ly from the tabs at the top. Enter your bit.ly username and API key into their respective boxes, then click Save. Your bit.ly account will automatically link to your Gremln account.
  • ▼ Where does Gremln keep the statistics onmy Brev.is links?
    • Brev.is statistics are stored in two places. You can find them on the Statistics page under the Brev.is tab, or on the Brev.is Links page, which can be accessed through the Tools menu.

Sending Messages

  • ▼ How do I post a message to my social networks?
    • At the top of your dashboard is a box with the text “Click and type a message.” Clicking this box will bring up your message control center. Type your message in the top box, then select which user network(s) through which you want to send the message. You can also shorten any links in your message by choosing either Brev.is or Bit.ly from the Shorten URLs tab, or translate the message into one of over 40 languages by selecting a language from the Translate tab. Send your message by clicking Send Now, or schedule it for the future by choosing the date and time below.
  • ▼ Can I set Facebook (or Twitter or LinkedIn) to be the default network for the messages I post?
    • Absolutely! Just go to the User Accounts page under the Tools menu. Select the tab for the social network you want to make your default, then check the “Preselected?” box. When this box is checked, this social network will always be checked as the network through which your message will be sent every time you type a new message. (To turn off this default option, return to the appropriate tab in the User Accounts page and uncheck the “Always on?” box.)
  • ▼ How do I schedule messages for the future?
    • Enter your message in the message box at the top of your dashboard page just like you would for any other message. Then, instead of clicking Send Now, select the date and time you would like the message to be posted.
  • ▼ Why can’t I schedule tweets to recur hourly?
    • Twitter has laid some ground rules about how often message can recur in order to prevent people from using Twitter as a spam tool. We are honoring Twitter’s request to disallow messages that recur on an hourly basis.
Note: You are allowed to schedule messages to post every hour; they just cannot all be the same, recurring message.
  • ▼ My last scheduled message didn’t go out when scheduled! What’s wrong? Will it go out later?
    • Occasionally, there is a very slight chance that a scheduled message will be delayed for a few minutes due to system maintenance or a brief system overload. In the rare instance that your message is not sent at precisely the desired time, Gremln will post it at the next available opportunity if you have checked the “Allow late post” box next when scheduling. If your message needs to go at a specific time or not at all, make sure the “Allow late post” box is unchecked when scheduling your message.
  • ▼ Can I translate my messages into different languages?
    • Gremln supports translation into over 40 languages. In order to translate a social media message, simply type the message in the message box at the top of your dashboard page, then hover your mouse over the Translate tab. Click on the language of translation from the drop down menu, and Gremln will automatically translate the message in its entirety.

Analytics

  • ▼ What is a Klout score?
    • Klout is a separate company that has become the standard for measuring a social media user’s influence across his or her social network. According to Klout’s website, this score “measures influence based on your ability to drive action.” Your Klout score measures, on a scale of 0 – 100, your true reach (how many people you influence), amplification (how much you influence those people), and network impact (the influence of your network). The higher your Klout score, the more influential your marketing message is in the social media space.
  • ▼ What is sentiment analysis?
    • Sentiment analysis is a science that endeavors to gauge the polarity of a word or phrase as it appears in the context of Internet posts and comments. In other words, sentiment analysis tools can tell you whether people are talking about your company positively or negatively in various online forums. Gremln’s sentiment analysis tool, Sentiment.al, scans all the major social networks and blog platforms for all mentions of the keyword you type into the search box, then tells you, on a scale of -1 to +1, how positively or negatively people are discussing that keyword at any given time. Sentiment analysis is particularly useful in the fields of marketing, politics, and financial investment.
  • ▼ I recently set up my Gremln account, and I’m not seeing any feedback in my Statistics page. Why is that?
    • It takes a few days for Gremln to amass the initial social media interaction and engagement numbers in order to process your statistics. It may take up to five days for Gremln to gather enough information from your social media networks to begin generating your statistics.
If your statistics are still not visible after one week, please contasctGremln Support at support@gremln.com.
